ABOUT ME
'Be yourself, everyone else is taken' (Oscar Wilde)
Yes....but at times, it can feel hard and complicated to 'be yourself.' Mental distress and unhappiness often stems from a loss of contact; primarily with self. Pain needs a voice, it needs to be heard and therapy is about beginning a conversation and starting to find sense in the difficult feelings that make life challenging. My training as an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist means this conversation into greater self awareness can be through words but also, at times, through the arts (image making, clay, body awareness, sand tray). This is not about being good at art (!) but research shows that the arts can help access conscious and unconscious material in a profound and supportive way. We can get to know, and understand different parts of our personalities. This in turn means more choices for how we act/re-act in daily life and the potential really
to enjoy being 'ourselves'.
