I am a integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor and a registrant on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I am also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and rapid transformational therapist, trained in the Marisa Peer Method. What this means is that I draw on a wide range of different strategies, techniques, theories and trainings. I graduated from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education with a post graduate diploma and have worked in successful private practice as a psychotherapist for more than 16 years. I have undergone many additional therapy trainings, including ones in cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness training.
I believe my many years of experience as a Psychotherapist complement and enhance my work as a Hypnotherapist and Rapid Transformational therapist.
My approach is collaborative, practical and solution-focused. I offer my clients empathy and respect, valuing their uniqueness as an individual, without judgement. I adhere to very strict codes of conduct and guarantee all my clients the utmost respect and privacy, including those with a high public profile.
I consider it an enormous privilege to be part of my client’s process and to witness the extraordinary positive transformations, growth, and change that I see in them.
I am often told by clients that I have a very gentle and reassuring voice and approach and, as a result, they find it easy to feel safe with me.
Humanistic psychotherapy believes that we all have an innate capacity for, and impulse towards, emotional health and that each person carries deep within, the wisdom and solution to their difficulties. Good therapy is about identifying and removing the blocks to achieving our potential. Life can feel painful, challenging and overwhelming at times and psychotherapy provides an opportunity to speak confidentially and openly to someone who is trained to listen in a particular way and who can give you support and help you gain clarity and insight into your situation and feelings. Whilst we can’t change the events of our past, it’s how we react to them and the meaning and power we give them that will determine what they become in our lives. The process of psychotherapy helps you make links between past and present experiences to better understand and address your current difficulties. Parenting and contact with other significant adults forms a child’s core beliefs about himself and we often unconsciously carry these beliefs into adulthood (our childhood scripts govern the way in which we interpret the adult present). These fixed beliefs and patterns often prevent a person from living life to the full. My aim as a therapist is to help you gain insight into your life and patterns and to support you in finding creative resourceful solutions and new ways of being and thinking. The process of psychotherapy enables you to understand your personal history and how negative patterns lead to emotional stress. I see the therapeutic relationship as being of utmost importance. Its basic values are integrity, impartiality and respect. My belief is that in this atmosphere human beings will move towards the potential that I believe exists within us all.
Confidentiality and trust are considered to be of utmost importance in therapy. Clients may share difficult feelings and thoughts with me and, in doing so, can expect that any personal details may remain confidential. I work to the code of ethics as set out by the British Association of Counselors and Psychotherapists. As an overview to my approach I also recognize the interconnected nature of mind, body, heart and spirit.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are held on a weekly basis and are regularly reviewed.
RTT Clinical HypnosisRTT embraces many of the positive aspects of hypnosis and hypnotherapy that are known to produce a transformative effect on clients: the use of trance, regression and hypnotic conditioning. However, RTT goes beyond, uncovering what works most effectively, to build a new therapeutic approach. Marisa Peer, one of the world’s leading hypnotherapists, identified over a period of 30 years that regardless of their issue, clients benefitted from her applying a particular set of techniques over and over again. These insights provided the foundations for rapid transformational therapy to emerge as a distinctive approach. We know that clients are time-starved and come to us in pain, both physical and emotional. They want rapid results. RTT aims to deliver permanent change in a single 2 hour session. Although some clients and some issues will need a further course of treatment.
RTT aims to truly empower clients. By using a technique called Role, Function, Purpose, it honors and values the significance clients attach to their issues and then offers a powerful emotional release from them. RTT draws out the underlying issues driving the behavior, the ‘unfinished business’ and unhelpful beliefs the client may have been holding onto for years that runs the unwanted action. The client is involved with the therapist in uncovering the meaning and interpretation of events and then changing them. This leads to permanent, powerful change.
